Boo, Scared? Escape from Backrooms drops you into a tense cat-and-mouse chase through the backrooms after a deranged Cat kidnaps you and locks you inside. The Cat has also prepared a series of riddles for you to solve, and buried within them is the story of what happened to him and where his friend Dog has gone. Several wooden-framed portraits hang on a green chevron-patterned wall across multiple areas of the game. In one scene, a bipedal cat-like creature sports a solid yellow tie and collar. Another moment shows two metal bed frames with white pillows resting against a wall on a tan carpeted floor.

The game presents great graphics, a huge backrooms location, and cool professional voice acting for the main character. Multiple endings are woven into the experience — whether the Cat catches you or you escape is entirely your call. Many characters are waiting to be saved and escaped with, though they are hidden behind a secret ending that won't reveal itself on a first playthrough.

How to Play Boo, Scared? Escape from Backrooms: Escape the Backrooms Before the Cat Catches You

The goal is to escape from the Backstage while the Cat with a Tie is in pursuit. Collect items and interact with the environment as you work through the Cat's riddles. Solving them uncovers what happened to the Cat and the whereabouts of his friend Dog. The Cat promises he is a friend rather than an enemy — but if he catches you, he will force a staring contest until your eyes give out, so moving quickly matters. Reaching a secret ending unlocks the many cool characters you are able to save and escape alongside.
